Introduction

RoundhouseThe Roundhouse Day Nursery is a small, friendly nursery situated just off Broad Street in Birmingham City Centre. The nursery was set up in June 1999, expanded in April 2002 and has been going from strength to strength since that time.

The nursery's principle aim is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for young children, keeping all of their development needs in mind.

The children in our care are provided with a wide range of carefully planned play / learning activities which in turn cater for each individual child's needs. Staff observe and assess all children in their care and complete detailed development files which are shared with parents on a regular basis. Activities are carefully constructed and are based around the children’s natural interests to support their learning and development.

A Registered Nursery

The nursery is fully registered with Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and has been reported to be a nursery that shows "no significant weaknesses" in our most recent Ofsted report. The nursery has an ongoing development and improvement policy in order to raise quality. This includes self assessment, liaising with parents and outside agencies and taking part in improvement programmes to raise quality, such as "Quality Together" and the "Effective Early Learning" and "Baby Effective Early Learning" programmes, which ultimately means we are able to offer families a service which is above the required national minimum standards.

Children

Children are provided with a wide range of carefully planned play / learning activities, which in turn cater for each individual child's needs. They are all given the opportunity to progress at their own rate. Staff, have high expectations of the children and encourage them to achieve. They observe and assess all of the children in their care and complete detailed development files, which are shared with parents on a regular basis. Activities are carefully constructed and are based around the children’s natural interests to support their learning and development.

Activities

All nursery activities are based around the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage 2012) areas of learning and development – these include:

Staff

We employ a qualified and experienced manageress at degree level and a team of highly qualified staff, who have been chosen for their sensitive and caring nature as well as for their qualifications. Each child is assigned a key person on entry to the nursery. The key person will endeavour to connect with each new family, answering any questions parents may have and providing a point of contact within the nursery. They facilitate a smooth transition into nursery life and take responsibility for the ongoing observation and assessment of each child to ensure they are achieving their key development stages, taking steps for early intervention where necessary.
